Course description

It is an exciting moment for speculative fiction, whether fantasy, climate fiction, science fiction, or horror, maybe because our moment is weird and we need weird stories to make sense of it.

This course will explore what's happening in current speculative fiction and help you work up your own ideas for short stories. We will talk about what speculative fiction does, and develop some strategies for capturing what's weird, scary, and wonderful in prose.
