Which ELC program(s) did you attend?

I attended the Intensive English (ELPI) program.

What made your ELC program special?

The chance to learn about different cultures, the great facilities, and the opportunity to speak with native English speakers in the ELC Learning Centre. I also enjoyed the activities and how interactive the classes were.

What is the most memorable thing that happened to you as an ELC student?

Meeting people from all over the world and creating lasting friendships and connections. I also had excellent teachers who were enthusiastic and dedicated to helping us learn.

Do you have any favourite memories of Canadian culture?

I was impressed by how kind and helpful people are, and how they respect each other's space and freedom. I appreciated the cultural diversity and how well people live together as a community. I arrived in Canada during a great season, spring and summer, when people enjoy nature and outdoor life to the fullest.

How did learning with students from other cultures change how you see the world?

It helped me become more open-minded and understand different perspectives. It also made me appreciate the value of cultural diversity.

Did studying English with us open any new opportunities for you? What are you doing now?

Yes, it gave me the tools to communicate confidently in English. I’m a dentist, and I believe English will help me participate in future research and conferences. It also helps me in my daily life, as I will be living in Canada for a year. Right now, I’m traveling across the country, and thanks to ELPI, I can communicate and connect with people.

What's it like living in Victoria?

Living in Victoria was peaceful and safe. It's a beautiful city with friendly people and amazing nature.

Best advice for new students

I truly believe that speaking English opens many opportunities. Being able to communicate in this language helps not only in academic and professional settings, but also in everyday life. It’s a great experience that will help you grow personally and professionally.
