ELC Additional Cost Activities

Are you a current ELC student interested in participating in our additional cost activities? Activities change every term, but often include visiting Butchart Gardens, going whale watching, kayaking, or visiting Vancouver.

Additional cost activities will be available for registration starting on the indicated date at 2:00 pm local time.

Encounters with Place (Hike and Learn)

This 2-day outdoor ecology activity introduces students to local landscapes, waterways and plant life. Encounters with Place guides students on walks to Mt. Tolmie, Mystic Vale, Cottonwood Swamp and Cadboro Bay Beach. Students learn to identify native and introduced species as they explore campus-area ecosystems.

2 day program, total approximately 12 hours of learning

  • Saturday, Oct 25 (9 am–3:30 pm)
  • Saturday, Nov 1 (9 am–3:30 pm)

The application deadline is Friday, October 3.

Activity and registration details

2-Night Vancouver Trip

  • Round trip transportation from UVic to downtown Vancouver (buses & ferry)
  • 2 nights of shared accommodation (YWCA Hotel or comparable)
  • Downtown walking tour
  • Accompanying Cultural Assistant (CA) staff

**Meals are NOT included.

**Rooms are shared between 2-5 people.
