Application FAQs

To apply for an on-campus ELC program, please complete the ELC application and submit the following:

  1. a one-time non-refundable application fee of CAD $150
  2. a non-refundable deposit of CAD $350 for each program you are applying to. For example: if you apply to a 12-week program and a 4-week program, you will need to pay CAD $350 for each program.
  3. a non-refundable CAD $300 Homestay application fee (if necessary)

In extraordinary cases such as wars, pandemics or government restrictions, a full refund will be issued.

In all other cases, the following policy applies:

  • All application fees, deposits and Homestay application fees are non-refundable.
  • Tuition (minus deposit) is refundable if you cancel your registration before the first day of the program.
  • There are no refunds after the program start date.

If your application for a visitor or study permit is denied, the ELC will refund:

  • your tuition (if applicable)
  • the CAD $350 program deposit
  • the CAD $300 homestay application fee (if applicable)

The CAD $150 ELC application fee is not refundable. To get a refund, you must submit a copy of documentation from the Canadian Embassy.  

We encourage all students to plan travel early so they can attend important program orientations and final dinners. Arriving late is not possible in some of our programs.

Tuition is not adjusted for students who arrive late or leave early.

Students wishing to leave early may not receive a Record of Grade or a Certificate of Participation.

To apply for an online ELC program, please complete the ELC application and submit the following:

ELPI-O/UAP-O

  • Application fee CAD $150.00
  • Deposit CAD $350.00

English for Global Communication (EGC)

  • No Application fee
  • Deposit CAD $25.00

If your visa is denied, you can transfer fees to a new program. But you can only do this one time. A CAD $100 transfer fee is charged per program.

If you want to transfer programs, you must notify the ELC before the program start date. You have one month from the cancellation date to transfer to another full-time program.

If you are already in Canada, you cannot transfer fees unless there is an emergency situation that requires you return home. In these cases, a doctor’s note and proof of a return air ticket are required. A CAD $100 transfer fee will be charged.
