Introduction to Business Administration

An introduction to fundamental business concepts, including global business strategies and leadership skills required for leading a successful business ventures. 


Course description

This online, self-paced course serves as a foundational introduction for learners with little or no business background. It covers the critical components necessary for students to further their business education at a more advanced micro-credential, certificate, or diploma level. Learners will gain a comprehensive overview of fundamental concepts and functions, including:

  • understanding human behaviour within organizations for effective management
  • establishing financial stability
  • enhancing decision-making and problem-solving skills through process analysis, analytical tools and communication improvement

Through reinforced learning with targeted activities and self-assessment tools, the course design encourages students to track their progress and engage with the content at a deeper level. This course:

  • can be completed within 5 weeks
  • requires a commitment of 6-8 hours per week
  • can be started at any time
  • is recommended for upper intermediate level students, such as Level 400 and up. Please note, this course is offered by our Business team, so your ELC teacher may not be able to help you with the material.

While it lays the groundwork for further micro-credential business programs, students may also choose to take this course as a stand-alone offering, earning a certificate of completion.

Note: This course does not count as a core or elective course toward the Business Administration Certificate, Diploma, or micro-credential programs, however, it is a suggested preparatory course for those looking to complete a micro-credential in a business topic.
