Course description

Interpersonal Business Communication is a course will help you understand and improve the way you connect with others.

You will start by exploring what communication is, why it matters and the different ways people communicate. You will learn the impact on how messages are sent and received, including the role of words, body language, and tone of voice.

This course will teach you the skills to actively listen and connect with others in ways that foster strong meaningful relationships. You will also gain insight into how culture affects communication while exploring your own approaches and communication styles for interacting effectively with people from different backgrounds.

This course also explores topics such as conflict resolution, effective teamwork, responsible use of digital communication tools, and engaging in conversations with integrity.  You will have the opportunity to practice your interpersonal communication skills, requiring access to a webcam and basic Zoom proficiency.

By the end of the course, you will have practical skills to communicate clearly and confidently in future workplaces.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • employ verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills to enhance interpersonal interactions within diverse business environments;
  • utilize active listening and responding techniques to foster open and constructive communication in team and organizational settings;
  • evaluate and adapt communication styles to suit various cultural and organizational contexts;
  • analyze and resolve interpersonal and organizational disputes with conflict resolution techniques; and,
  • apply digital communication tools to deliver clear and effective messages across various contexts.
